5 Ways To Change Your Mindset Quickly

Learn how to shift your mindset and reach your peak performance state

When it comes to being successful, what would you do if you knew that just by learning how to change your mindset you could make the major switch to head in the right direction. Do you feel like there is more out there for you than the way you are currently living? Do you want to get more out of life and live life to the fullest? Does this sound familiar to you? Whether you’ve reached a plateau or having trouble achieving your goals or feel stuck in a cycle of negativity, learning ways to change your mindset can completely transform your relationship, career, and your entire life.

So what is a mindset?

Your mindset is your very own set of beliefs, values, and attitudes about yourself and the world around you. This set of beliefs shapes how you perceive the world and experience it around you. Do you feel like your life is within your control or destined to be a certain way? Do you feel like the way life is right now is the only way it will ever be for you, or do you believe you can change it to achieve maximum greatness? Is life happening to you or is it happening for you? Do you believe in personal growth or are you content to stay in your comfort zone? These are examples of various beliefs you might have and they provide very different ways to attack life and very different results as well. And you know the crazy thing about this? It is that they are simply beliefs that form your mindset. They aren’t even anything tangible things but they can control your life so much and prevent you from becoming the very best version of yourself.

Our childhood, past experiences, traumas, etc… are all important parts of what shapes our way to see the world and how we perceive things around us and situations. You’ve probably heard someone be accused of being stuck in their ways or having an old-fashioned set of beliefs! Or others being told they are pessimists or optimists. These are all different types of mindsets that fortunately enough, can be changed and this is what this article today will be about.

Can you shif your mindset?

The short answer is yes you can definitely shift your mindset. Changing your mindset is something that every successful person has in common that helped them get where they are today. There are many ways to change your mindset and improve the quality of your life which will propel you to success.

Negative Thinking to Positive Thinking

Positive thinking is associated with decreased anxiety, greater happiness, improved physical and mental health, and much more. Having a positive mindset at all times, even through hard challenges, will always make you come out on the other side as a winner. This can help you tremendously on your journey to achieve your goals. One specific study even found that a positive outlook leads to success. Positive people are more likable, which helps them build rapport, network, and get ahead in life.

Emotional Weakness to Emotional Control

One thing that successful people are really good at is not letting negative experiences and events beyond their control affect their state of mind. Our beliefs create our world, and successful people know that and know or have learned to control their beliefs to positively affect the world around them. They control their emotions, mindset, and lives instead of the other way around.

Expectations to Appreciation

Trading expectations for appreciation will make you avoid so much frustration and disappointment in life. When you appreciate abundance instead of always expecting and wanting more from life and the universe, others and from yourself, you’re able to be grounded and more present in your life which can make you enjoy it to the fullest.

Fixed Mindset to Growth Mindset

What is a fixed mindset? People with this set of beliefs believe that they can’t improve or grow. They believe life is the way it is for them and that they are stuck that way. With a growth mindset, you believe that if you put in the work, anything is achievable and you will be rewarded. You know that any new skills can be learned and that everybody is born equal and without any knowledge of the world. You know that you can improve your relationships and grow as a person. You look at challenges as opportunities to grow and learn instead of them as obstacles.

Big Changes to Small Adjustments

So to shift your mindset, you need to stop looking at life as an all-or-nothing situation. Oftentimes, changing your mindset happens step by step. Working with my clients, I have seen that sometimes the smallest of steps in changing your mindset, can achieve the biggest results in overcoming the challenges in your life.

Challenge Your Limiting Beliefs

Everyone no matter who you are holds on to limiting beliefs whether they are aware of them or not and they prevent them from realizing their dreams. Those who are able to challenge them and overcome them, go on to achieve their goals. Those who don’t continue to live in the negative patterns they create for themselves end up achieving things they would of never even dreamed of before.

Limiting beliefs are the stories we told ourselves about who we are, what we can achieve, and what are the limits of our capabilities. The word to remember here is limiting. This specific word is what we impose on ourselves and we place limits on our capabilities. It is when we understand that concept and face challenges head-on, that we are able to discover our capabilities and achieve our wildest dream. By doing so regularly, you will be able to achieve your wildest dreams.

Face Your Fears

One of the things that I see the most often in my coaching practice is that people are letting their professional and personal life pass them by because of the fear of failure. When I confront them about this behavior, their life usually changes fast. What you are doing when you allow fear to take over, is that you are missing out on huge, massive opportunities in disguise. Embracing fear and understanding that failure can be replaced by learning, you then start to realize that any failure is just the opportunity to learn and improve. Do you think Olympic gold medalists never failed? It’s their repetitive failures and losses that got them to perfect their sport and become better and better all the way up to be gold medalists. Without failure, you don’t learn and without learning, you don’t achieve. Once you understand that not being afraid of failure and loving the process that comes with it, you then go on to attack the world without limitation because once the fear of failure is removed in your head….. the sky is the limit(or is it?).

Change Your Self Talk

What I teach my clients on a repetitive basis is to change their self-talk. We all have that little voice in our head that tells us stuff and make us think about various ideas. When we allow our self-talk to be negative, our whole world, emotional state of mind and being shift to align itself with what it is being fed. Feed the machine garbage and it will perform like garbage. I like to tell my clients to start their day by feeding their minds positive thoughts and outcomes right away. It feels weird at first because we are so used to talking ourselves down. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself out loud that you are the best, you are fully capable of achieving what you want to achieve and you will achieve it because you won’t stop until you do. Telling yourself that you will have an awesome day no matter what is thrown at you and you are on fire and nothing can start you from reaching your goals. I call this priming yourself. Prime yourself for success and your whole being and mindset will shift to be successful. Your mind will lookout for ways to achieve what you are looking for either consciously or unconsciously. When you understand that you drive the machine, you understand that you might have to correct the course of your thoughts throughout the day to keep that high positivity and drive flowing.

Shift Your Perspective

It can be hard at first to learn how to change your mindset and even overwhelming. That’s why as a coach I am there to guide my clients through the process. Like I was saying earlier, sometimes you are so close to changing your life around and all you need is a small shift in your mindset and that slight push from a coach. I always tell my clients that nothing in life has any meaning other than the meaning we give it. For example, do you see challenges as obstacles or as opportunities?

I teach people to look at everything from different angles and choose the one that most benefits them in achieving their goals. One of my clients went on to create products in the hopes of selling them on amazon and it flopped completely. He lost tons of money because that specific product wasn’t a hit. During that process, however, I made him notice one thing. He learned the process of how to create a product, import it, and put it on amazon, and that in itself is quite challenging with multiple logistic problems. Once I made him realize that this in itself was extraordinary and that most people wouldn’t even have been able to go to that extent and would have given up before, he started to shift his mindset and became proud of himself despite the loss and failure of the product. So I told him now that you know the whole process to get that going, what are you waiting for to create something else? He looked at me like I was crazy and I told him no seriously, go on and make something else completely different. So he did and this product was a success, he made the money back that he had lost with the first product and was able to turn on a good profit. He is still selling on Amazon today and made this his main income in life. Do you see now that if he would have stopped at his failure and been discouraged, he would have never been able to achieve what he did today? All of that was because of a limit he imposed on himself in his mind and I was there to break that limit down and push him to start over with his newly acquired knowledge.
